FIND YOUR VOICE AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO FIND THEIRS
FIND YOUR VOICE AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO FIND THEIRS
The new international Webster's encyclopaedic dictionary of the English language defines voice as the power, faculty or sound of vocal utterance or speech.
It is the expression of thought, feelings, wish, opinion, choice, preference or judgement.
We live in a time when a lot of people seem to have lost their voices. To most, it feels trendy and easier to express the voice of the sound around them; such voices as violence, corruption, hate, vanity, legalism, materialism, egotism, self assertion, self conceit and self consciousness.
Such negative voices have been amplified by one of man's greatest tool of the century; social media.
Could it be that the change we so desire eludes us because we have lost our voice? Well, we cannot continue to allow this happen, it's high time we found our voices by first finding the voice of our manufacturer; Jesus the Christ. Only then can we find ours and inspire others to find theirs.
STARTING POINT
Marianne Williamson said " Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do same.
I dare say, it is indeed time to find our voice and inspire others to find theirs.
THE INTELLIGENCES
Previously, I gave a brief description of what finding your voice means. Everyone must search within themselves for their inner voice which points them in the direction of their purpose.
Like a great tree that starts as a seed, what starts as an idea if pondered on becomes a thought, if the thought stays long enough and is processed, it becomes our voice.
Let's focus on the process that that little idea of yours has to go through to become a voice.
The process of finding your voice involves developing your 6 major intelligences which include;
1. Physical Intelligence
2. Mental Intelligence
3. Emotional Intelligence
4. Social Intelligence
5. Financial Intelligence
6. Spiritual Intelligence
If all 5 are mastered, there is no limit to what one can achieve.
THE 6 INTELLIGENCES EXPLAINED
Most people have found their purpose in life but they still remain mediocre, neither making impact nor money. This leads to frustration in the long run.
Finding your purpose is the start of becoming great in life but we must not stop there. We must go through the process of developing our 6 major intelligences.
Most people only develop their mental Intelligence, so we find intellectuals who barely know how to make things work in business. The way out is to master other intelligences. This makes for a complete leader, who is not just an authority in a particular field but an all rounder.
Below is a brief description of all 6 intelligences;
1. Physical Intelligence: our bodies work in an amazing way. If we can just observe how it works, it will stir us to great works. The best part we can play in making sure our physical Intelligence grows is to take care of our bodies. We must eat right, exercise and take dietary supplements. Like they say health is wealth. When we take care of our health we will be able to operate optimally and enhance our voices.
2. Mental Intelligence; this is where most of us focus our attention on but the truth be told, it's a good part of our intelligence not the most important. Reading, Studying and the like helps us develop our mental Intelligence. Generally speaking, personal development improves our mental intelligence.
3. Emotional Intelligence, focuses on how we feel about our selves and how it affects our relationship with others. This can be a bit tricky and most times we may need the help of a psychologist to help us grow emotionally. But one key factor is peace. When we are at peace with ourselves, it has tye effect of living at peace with others and nothing they do affects our performance. A high level of practice is needed here.
4. Social Intelligence relates to how we deal with others especially in our social space which includes the home, the work place and other places where we meet people who may or may not share our opinions. How do we deal with difficult people and still achieve organisational goals. Being in the environment and mastering people helps us grow in social Intelligence.
5.Financial Intelligence relates to how we handle money. One of the most important reward for value is money. People make a lot of money and don't know how to keep and grow it. Financial Education enhances our financial Intelligence as you know money is a defence and it answers all things. The earlier we know how it works, the better we will be in terms of achieving our goals.
6. Spiritual Intelligence; most people overlook this area but it is the most important of all intelligences. It involves our conscience, how we relate to people. Such area as love and sacrifice fall under this category. Only a transformed mind through the word of God has help us maintain a great level of Spiritual intelligence. A relationship with God I the starting point, spending time in His presence, praying and studying His word will make all the difference.
MY VOICE
What better way to start life than knowing exactly what you have been called to do and following through to the extent of becoming the best you can be.
So many years ago, I found my voice in Education. I knew I wanted to impact a great number of people especially children but I also knew the Impact had to begin with me.
I found my voice and started to build myself up. It took sixteen long years of hard labour, personal development and a lot of courage. That was just the the first phase. As you know building yourself as a great leader is a lifetime thing.
Then came the next three years of starting out on my own as an entrepreneur with little help from people and a lot of faith in God.
The greatest thing I found out is that if I must continue to be great, I must inspire others themselves to be great. This brings me to my best definition of leadership. Steven Covey defined leadership as Communicating to people their worth and potential so clearly that they come to see it in themselves.
If you really want to stand out as a great leader you must first find your voice and then inspire others to find theirs.
I will be dealing with 10 key voices to make every leader stand out as a supreme leader in subsequent blogs.
1. The voice of Image management
2. The voice of Media and Communication
3.The voice of Relationship Management
4. The voice of system, structure and processes
5. The voice of Leadership and Politics.
6. The voice of Financial Education
7. The voice of Accounting
8. The voice of Legal Orientation
9. The voice of Information Technology
10. The voice of Education
