BUILDING A GREAT TEACHER/ LEARNER RELATIONSHIP

Like they say many drops of  water makes a mighty ocean. 

In building a relationship with children, it's the little things that make up the big things. 

Words are the most destructive and at the same time constructive tools we use in building or pulling down our relationship with the children in our care. 

Over the years, I've found out that the greatest teachers are those that know how to wield words to not only get into a relationship with a child but also to maintain it.

If we ever succed in building a relationship with a child, we can teach him anything and he will learn it.

Remember the subjects we didn't perform well in when we were kids were subjects whose teachers were always mean.

So you see, what we say to the children is as important as how we say it.

Whatever kind of relationship we model to the children in our care will determine their outcome.

Let us be the transition person that changes the teaching and learning process by first building a great relationship with our learner's.

DIAGNOSING TEACHER TYPE AND LEARNER TYPE

What kind of teacher are you and what can of learner are you paired with? This goes a long way in determining how effective teaching and learning will be.

As a supreme teacher, it's important to know how your learner's learn to enable you give the best teaching experience.

We will be looking at 5 types of teachers and learners.

1. Visual teachers and learners: they learn by what they see. Things like pictures, diagrams, chats and graphs help them.

2. Auditor teachers and learners: they learn by listening to information and processing information.  

3. Kinesthetic teachers and learners: they are also known as hands on learners. They learn by being involved in what is being taught.

4. Logical Teachers and Learners are also known as mathematical learners and teachers. They use mathematics and logic to solve problems.

5. Intrapersonal teachers and learners prefer to learn on their own. They study on their own and think things through by themselves.

6. Social teachers and learners enjoy working with other people. Breakout sessions are the best methods applied to their learning.

I guess you have found yourself in one of these category and you also see your learner's too. 

Now it will be easier for you to take steps in choosing the best method for each learner so as to impact and inspire them to have a perfect learning experience.

MATCHING APPROPRIATE TEACHING STYLES WITH THE LEARNER TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS

It's important to use the right teaching styles to enable learners enjoy their learning experience.

 The previous posts has explained the types of learners. The various teaching styles can be employed based on the types of learners. It is the work of the supreme teacher to combine the two in such a way that they arrive at effective teaching and learning which will benefit both parties.

Let's briefly look at the various teaching styles.

 1.The traditional teaching style: here teachers just lecture, they take the stage and give out information to learners. They just "tell" It is not effective for visual learners.

2. Demonstration teaching style. Here the teachers shows learners how. Experiments and tech tools are employed here. All types of learners benefits from this style.

3. Hands-on teaching style: Here the learners are involved. They try things out by themselves. They practice and experiment and get better with what they are taught. The intrapersonal learners finds this effective.

4. Collaboration teaching style: here the teacher works together with the learner. Students are put together in little groups. This method helps in problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills. Social learners would love this.

5. Problem-solving teaching styles

5. Handsoff:  here the teacher gives very little instructions. They leave the learner to work on their own. This helps with self actualization and critical thinking skills.

As a supreme teacher, you must consistently combine different styles to achieve great learning outcomes.
